Dr. Min Li, Professor

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China

Biography: Dr. Min Li is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, at Southeast University. Mainly engaged in phase change thermal storage materials, energy-saving materials and functional materials. Supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of Ministry of Education of China. Won the National Science and Technology Progress Award and Jiangsu Province other awards as a participant. Hosted and participated in a total of 15 national, provincial and other projects, and published over 50 SCI indexed academic papers in international academic journals such as Applied Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy, and Solar Energy.

Dr. Huiying Zhang, Associate Professor

College of Life Sciences, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fuzhou, China

Biography: Dr. Huiying Zhang was a postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University in 2015. She received a PhD in Botany from the School of Life Sciences of Chongqing University in 2013. Huiying's expertise and practical experience are in green technologies for waste/wastewater treatment and reuse, bioenergy, circular economy, synthetic biology, and molecular biology. Huiying has authored 5 books, and she has presided over 12 scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Science Fund Project, China Postdoctoral Science Fund project, the Provincial Science and Technology Department project and the University Jieqing Project, carried out technical cooperation with seven domestic enterprises, and presided over 3 horizontal projects. She has published nearly 20 papers in the Chemical Engineering Journal, Science of the Total Environment, Algal Research and other authoritative journals at home and abroad as the corresponding author or the first author, with 4 authorized patents. As the first instructor, she helped students achieve a series of essential discipline competitions in China and internationally. In the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition, she won 3 gold awards, silver awards, Best Hardware awards, Best Environmental Bioremediation awards, and Best Sustainable Development award nominations. Besides, silver awards in the first "Creation Youth" China Youth Carbon Neutral Innovation.

Topic: Algae-Based Biotechnology for Sustainable Green Resources

Abstract: Algae-based biotechnology represents a promising avenue for sustainable resource development, leveraging the diverse metabolic capabilities of algae for various applications. This review article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of algae-based biotechnology, covering its foundational aspects, applications, challenges, current research trends, practical examples, and future directions in algae-based biotechnology for sustainable green resources. The unique ability of algae to thrive in diverse environments and their rapid growth rates make them particularly efficient candidates for carbon sequestration and wastewater treatment. Additionally, integrating genetic engineering and bioprocessing techniques enhances their productivity and economic viability. This review underscores the ecological benefits and technological challenges associated with algae-based biotechnology, highlighting its role in transitioning towards a greener and more sustainable future.
